POA directs players to withdraw from event

Departments told to pull athletes out of national championship.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has directed the sports boards of Pakistan Army, PAF, Navy, Wapda, HEC, Railways and Police to withdraw their teams from the National Athletics Championship to be held in Islamabad from May 24.

In a letter addressed to the POA affiliates – with copies sent to the secretaries general of the four provincials and Fata – the POA has reminded them that the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) had been suspended.

The secretaries general of the Olympic associations of Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Fata have been asked to direct their concerned provincial athletics association to stop the athletes from taking part in the championship.
