As many as 1,500 pictures taken by 150 photographers will go on display at the 2nd National Photographic Art Exhibition starting on May 27 here at the Alhamra Art Gallery.
Talking to The Express Tribune, curator Tanya Suhail said, “The idea…is to encourage and promote upcoming photographers.”
“National shows provide an opportunity to photographers...it’s important that photography is featured regularly in our event calendar,” she said. She said the gallery had received an ‘overwhelming response’ from young photographers who had sent their entries. Photographer Asif Zaidi said the organisers had shown ‘great’ initiative in arranging the exhibition after six years. He said the exhibition would help introduce new talent.
“We have announced 25 prizes because we want to motivate the participants,” said Samiur Rehman, one of the organisers.
The exhibition will go on till June 7.
