‘Surprise crackdown’: 21 phones extracted from prisoners

The prisoners who hid the phones have been confined to a special cell (chakki) for one month as punishment.

LAHORE: Kot Lakhpat Central Jail officials recovered 21 mobile phones and accessories from “secret body parts of prisoners” in a “surprise crackdown” on Thursday. Official sources told APP that Superintendent Kamran Anjum and a team of wardens, acting on the directives of Jails IG Mian Farooq Nazeer, conducted a surprise search in all barracks and confiscated 21 phones. The prisoners who hid the phones have been confined to a special cell (chakki) for one month as punishment and barred from meeting their relatives during this period.
