HARIPUR:

A medical team from the Women and Children Hospital in Haripur on Thursday exhumed the body of a woman who died under mysterious circumstances in Khanpur.

Khanpur police were informed Sayen Muhammad’s daughter Nadia, 27, was abducted from her home about two and half months ago. She was married, but allegedly had an affair with Umair, a resident of Vijiyan village. The two eloped and reportedly arrived in Vijiyan about a month ago.

However, within six days of their arrival, Nadia died and Umair’s family members buried her hastily, claiming she was a kidney patient and died before any medical assistance could be administered.

Nadia’s family accused Umair for abducting and murdering her. The family also filed an application with the district judge in order to seek an inquiry into her death. The court directed judicial magistrate Naveed Ahmed Khan to exhume the body and determine the cause of her death. Accompanied by police and a medical team, the magistrate had the body exhumed and doctors collected samples for investigation.
