Action Taken: ECP orders recounting of votes

The statement further mentioned that recounting would be conducted in one polling station of the constituency.

PESHAWAR: After reports of rigging in constituencies in Fata and K-P, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed to recount votes in polling stations in Peshawar, Bannu and Haripur on Wednesday.

According to a statement, the ECP mentioned that within three days, the recounting process should be completed in polling stations of PK-10  (Peshawar) constituency from where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shah Farman won.

The statement further mentioned that recounting would be conducted in one polling station of the constituency.

The ECP also directed that votes will be recounted in one polling station in PK-52 (Haripur) constituency from where PTI candidate Faisal Zaman won.

A series of protests erupted after the PTI candidate was declared as the winner after which the ECP directed the presiding officer to recount the polls.

Meanwhile, votes would be recounted in four polling stations of PK-71 constituency, three in PK-72 and four polling stations of NA-41 in South Waziristan Agency.

Re-polling would also be held in 21 polling stations of NA-46 Khyber Agency on May 25.
