According to several applicants and their parents, thousands of students have found it hard to gain admission to the school because of its acceptance policy.
The Punjab government had formed centres in several districts to conduct entry tests in 2005 but locals have alleged that while the Zakariya University administration has accepted the internal entry test they are refusing to accept entry tests conducted at other centres.
Students and their parents, Markazi Anjuman Shehrian president Mian Muhammad Aslam, Shabab Milli patron Farooq Amin, Hina Rabbani, Fozia, Amrai, Muhammad Akram, Abdul Hafiz and others said that due to the rejection of the entry test students with merit were being adversely affected.
The university administration and the Punjab government have not formed a policy in this regard.
Due to the move it is feared that the students aspiring to gain admission to the computer sciences, telecom, information technology, MBA and commerce departments will suffer.
The students and parents have asked that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif take immediate notice of the matter.
“It’s impossible,” says University of Engineering Technology (UET) entry test convenor Dr Saleem, adding that all public universities including BZU were bound to follow the results of the UET entry test.
On Sunday the UET uploaded its entry test results on its website and according to regulations all public engineering universities have to comply.
A total of 6,100 students have appeared at BZU’s centre for the combined entry test conducted by UET.
