According to the report, Altaf Hussain is not well and bed rest has been prescribed.
Earlier, enraged by what he called “false accusations” of rigging, Altaf had warned the establishment to respect the mandate of Karachi in a telephonic address to his party on May 12.
He reminded his supporters that despite deaths, bombings and threats the highest number of MQM voters had risked their lives to vote. He alleged that the media was showing anti-MQM demonstrators but did not speak of the thousands of MQM voters who turned up to support the party on polling day.

We all know that when a politician in India or Pakistan states that his followers should go out and "do something" to their opponents, that it is just hot air rhetoric and it never ever happens.

PPP, MQM, and NAP had warnings from Taliban and they could not hold meetings. Other parties like PMLN, PTI, JUI, Jamat Islami were given support by Taliban. You know Taliban did play a role.
MQM had no money TV campaign. Both PNA and MQM lost their workers in terrorist attacks. The responsibility was accepted by PTT. I think we got what Pakistani nation deserved.
There was a news that 90,000 fake ballots were intercepted in Lower Dir, and Election Commission took notice of it. The consignee were our illustrious Jamat i Islami. Now there is complete silence on this despite so much hue and cry about rigging.

@Saad: The meanings of Arabic word Mahajir is often misunderstood. It does NOT mean a refugee and it means IMMIGRANT. In Pakistan he is a Mahajir and in England he has a temporary abode. A Mahajir or immigrant, permanently leaves his homeland and acquires home elsewhere.

And why are we worried about a britisher's health? Should we check up on the queen too? On another note, i hope Altaf 'bhai', who is a double mohajir (latest hijrat to London), starts a tehreek to emanicipate the pakistani mohajirs in UK too. Considering that MQM is stagnating despite an educated and articulate mid level leadership should it not consider intra party elections to cut deadwood, give dynamic individuals a chance to rise and challenge for the top slots?

Creation of Pakistan itself came into being becusae Muslims felt there interests threatened in United India.In Canada every few years there is refrendum if Quebec wants to secede. Checoslavakia opted to break into check and slavak counties peacefully. Bangladesh fought a war of Independence Because thier due rights were not given in United pakistan. USSR broke without any resistance. The best way to ensure the integrity of the country is to givve every body its due rights.Country cannot survive on Discrimination or force. Why the people of urban sindh are treated like 2nd class citizens with Quota system and not giving them the oppurtunity to run the Karachi's administration.Why thier mandate is Questioned??.

@Adnan Khan: Do you ignorant people even know that asking to separate Karachi from Pakistan is no crime at all. The UK itself is going through an independence referendum for Scotland. How can the Met Police or Scotland yard Arrest Altaf Bhai? The best they can say is 'hold a referendum in Karachi on whether the people want an independent country Karachi or not'. It depends on the decision of the people. UK is doing the same in Scotland.
