PASROOR: Four men were arrested on Monday shortly after they beat up a school teacher and tried to kidnap him from his house.

The injured man was taken to a hospital, where he was later reported to be out of danger. Saddar police said Fida Husain Shah, a resident of Ooncha Paharang village, had had a political rivalry with Shabbir, Heera, Ejaz and Jabbar from the same village. Police quoted Shah as saying that the men entered his baithak (drawing room) and attacked him with batons. He said his family informed the police, who caught the men while they were trying to force Shah in a car.

Following the incident, newly elected member of the parliament Rana Muhammad Afzal from PP-128 contacted the two parties and asked them to reconcile. Talking to The Express Tribune, he said he wanted people in his constituency to live in peace and harmony.
