Academics: AIOU to set up science labs

The workshop was organised by the Department of Science, AIOU in collaboration with Higher Education Commission.

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will set up science laboratories in all of its regional campuses around the country. This was stated by AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi at the opening session of a week-long workshop on “Physics equipments” on Monday. He added that state-of-the-art laboratory equipment will be provided therein to ensure access to quality education and promote science education in the country. The VC further said a three-member committee comprising Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Prof Dr Rashid A Naeem, Faculty of Science Dean Prof. Nowshad Khan and Department of Physics Chairman Prof. Syed Zafar Ilyas has been set up to finalise the arrangements. The workshop was organised by the Department of Science, AIOU in collaboration with Higher Education Commission. Senior faculty members from public and private universities and post-graduate colleges across the country were attending the training workshop, said a news release.
