The meeting, held at Bilawal House aimed at discussing post-election strategies for the political party, particularly the formation of provincial government. Sources said President Zardari directed the party leaders to approach Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other political forces to form a coalition government.
“It would be a small cabinet as compared to the outgoing government,” revealed one of the meeting participants.
A senior leader confirmed that Owais Muzaffar, Hazar Khan Bijarani and Nisar Ahmad Khuhro were being considered as potential candidates for the post of chief minister. The final decision will be announced soon, he added.
The meeting was attended by party candidates who won provincial seats in the May 11 general elections including Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Faryal Talpur, Khursheed Shah, Owais Muzaffar, and other senior leaders such as Taj Haider and Murad Ali Shah.

12 to 15 ppl will die again.. everyday on an avg.
Allah save Pakistan. Another five years of torture.
Masha Allah! People of Sindh are sooooooooooo looking forward to the next Govt. esp. in Karachi. I suggest they legalize extortion and money grabbing, and fix some rates, so everyone can breathe...
Why this mistrust between sindhis and punjabis in Sindh? What is the reason? Guru Nanak - both the communities believe. Then why this divide ? It is not there in India.
But I thought MQM just prior to election had split off and became part of opposition. So in 50 days things have changed and they will be part of government with PPP. Do you really think people are that stupid?.
It is better for PPP to align with MQM and form a stable govt. This is much better than last time when PPP had included all the tiny parties in Sindh govt. By keeping the losing parties out of the govt they would become irrelevant and not able to have control on their fiefdoms. The likes of PML-F who is always a part of every govt and other one or two seat parties have lost the elections and should sit in opposition with the remnants of dictator.
In any democracy, parties go and sit in opposition. They can serve the masses by sitting on the seats of opposition as govt in waiting. MQM has already been in power for over decade and its performance has been very poor. They need to reorganize party, become more open, flexible and people friendly party, increase their reach to whole Sindh. They should put up very good opposition in Sindh, setting up an example of healthy opposition party. I am sure, if they first organize their party well and then connect with people of whole province, there is bright future for MQM. But if MQM sticks to power politics and only care to grab more power, it will negatively affect its vote bank. I am sure, other parties will give very tough time to MQM in next election.
@Assad: Functioning or continue to make money?
If there is no peace in urban Sindh this time especially in Khi, I do not understand where we will go. I hope the country generally does better and Nawaz helps improves economic condition of people. Hopefully then problems in provinces will be less.
I would suggest that Karachiites should migrate to KP.
@Assad: U r main opposition party. If u vl nt sit then who will be!
with PPP in Sindh and PML-N in center....they are the same
All you folks who are questioning "Why would Zardari form a coalition in Sindh with MQM?" should know by now how Zardari works.
He will bring them to table and his government will keep pressing on to their teritories in Karachi will they boycott themselves. But MQM can not boycott now since that's not a bargaining chip anymore.
PPP aligning itself with a terrorist party yet again. Then they complain they're being targeted. :/
@k. Salim Jahangir: Nothing wrong with becoming part of the government as long as it serves the interests of Karachi and Hyderabad.
Smaller parties do not have the luxury of sitting out in opposition given that they will never had enough to govern on their own. Reality of the situation demands that MQM participate in all coalition governments so Karachi can remain functioning.
PPP and MQM are tied in a knot by Al-Mighty Allah.
Both of them cannot live alone with each other.
Here we say that man proposes and God disposes.
No surprise here. Parties that actually won seats form an inclusive government, but at least give these irate PTI-walas ministry of social media.
MQM is meant for this purpose?? Always ready to enter any coalition........must remain in govt.
Mr. Zardari is head of nation. How can he take decision for PPP? n what is need for coalition gov when they got enough seats?
