Akram, who is the father of former MNA Sheikh Waqas Akram, secured 74,324 votes. Akram’s son had earlier withdrawn nomination papers in favour of his father.
Ludhianvi, who is also the chief of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), managed to secure 71,598 votes.
NA-89 has long been an ASWJ hub. In 1988, when it was known as Sipah-i-Sahaba, its founder Haq Nawaz Jhangvi won 39,000 votes at NA-89, but lost out to Begum Abida Hussain.

@ M. Ali Khan: Aurangzeb farooqi lost his seat from landhi to MQM Syed Waqar Hussain Shah !!!
Best result of the election !
The only result of PMLN i like so much
Aurangzeb Farooqi still managed to secure a Sindh Assembly seat from Landhi though. But glad ASWJ's hate speech politics lost in Jhang. But the city's sectarian divide has sadly become more prominent now.
