GUJRAT: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira was handed a heavy defeat on the NA-106 Gujrat 3 constituency.

Kaira, who was in third place, only managed to score 8,848 votes. Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) won the seat by securing 30,079 votes.

The PPP leader had won the seat in 2002 and 2008.
