Bollywood actor Chitrangada Singh, who is well-known for her critically acclaimed performances in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Ye Saali Zindagi and Inkaar and was also seen alongside Akshay Kumar in Desi Boyz, reportedly filed for a divorce from golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa on Friday.

The couple, whose marital differences have been circulating in the media for a long time, have been married for 12 years and has a son, Zorawar. In order to avoid any media attention, the couple arrived at a family court in Gurgaon alongside a few family relatives, police officials and respective lawyers.

“Both Chitrangda and Jyoti have hired lawyers from Delhi. It seems the duo did not want the matter to go public,” said a lawyer, according to the Hindustan Times.

The court, however, has asked the couple to reconsider the decision and has fixed the next hearing for November 11, giving them sufficient time to think.

A few months back, the couple had dismissed the break up rumours. “We are happy and enjoying our lives. It’s just that she lives in Mumbai to do her job and I stay in Gurgaon to do mine,” said Randhawa to the Hindustan Times.“As far as separation is concerned, I don’t know the source of this rumour nor do I want to know,” he added.

Chitrangada’s husband Jyoti Singh Randhawa is also one of the leading golfers of India and was ranked in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking several times between 2004 and 2009.
