LAHORE: Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition as withdrawn, for the disqualification of former MPA Farooq Yousaf Ghurki. Iftikhar Ahmed, a voter from PP-159, had filed a petition seeking Ghurki's disqualification for contesting the 2008 elections on a fake bachelor’s degree. Earlier, Ghurki’s counsel requested the court to set aside an ex-parte order passed on March 20 disqualifying Ghurki. The counsel also presented the relevant documents. Ahmed later sought to withdraw his petition. The court expressed annoyance in the matter and fined him Rs200,000. The fine was later received as a donation to the LHCBA dispensary.
