Political parties in Malakand district have demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to take action against Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) for printing fake ballot papers.
Speaking to journalists, members of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said the ECP must take action against the JI for attempted rigging. They further alleged that JI candidates are asking for votes on the pretext of religion.
QWP candidate Muhamamd Ibrar, ANP leader Ijaz Khan, PPP and Peoples Worker Union leader Qasim Kasam and JUI-F leader Qari Imran attended the briefing.
The ECP should carry out investigations in Malakand because it is possible that JI candidates might have supplied fake ballot papers here too, which may be used on May 11.

The parties’ leaders also demanded the district administration to hold a meeting with JI candidates to ensure that they are not involved in any kind of poll rigging. In case of rigging, action will be taken against the culprits and the district government would be held responsible for not carrying out proper investigations, they said.
JI chief Sirajul Haq must also be penalised for his contradictory statements about the recovery of the fake ballot papers in Dir, they further said.
