North Waziristan: Two security personnel killed, three injured in IED blast

A convoy en route to Bannu came under attack in Kam Sarobi.

MIRANSHAH: Two security official were killed and three others, including a captain, were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a roadside exploded near a vehicle in Ramzak subdivision, North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.

An official of the security forces said a convoy was en route to Bannu from North Waziristan at around 12pm. He added when the convoy reached Kam Sarobi, a high-intensity IED planted on the roadside detonated, killing two officials on the spot and injuring three others.



After the explosion, security forces surrounded the area and gunship helicopters were scrambled. A search operation was also launched in the nearby area. “The vehicle was partially damaged due to the impact of the explosion,” the official added.

The deceased personnel were identified as Tahir Khan and Ihsanullah, while the injured included Captain Sultan Ayaz, Subidar Sarwar and Atif, who were airlifted to Bannu Combined Military Hospital.

A curfew was imposed by the political administration in the agency since morning. Following the incident, residents were told to restrict themselves to their houses and to avoid coming out on main routes.
