Aisam-Rojer reach Portugal Open final

Tournament’s top seeds survive three-setter against Italian pair.

Top-seeds Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer reached the final of the Portugal Open doubles event after dispatching off the Italy’s pairing of Daniele Bracciali and Fabio Fognini 6-4, 4-6, 10-6, according to the ATP world tour website.


The defending champions took over an hour and 22 minutes to see off the fourth seeds and will now face American Scott Lipsky and Mexico’s Santiago Gonzalez, the third seeds, in the final.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova beat Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro 7-5, 6-2 to win the Portugal Open women’s event and claim her first trophy on clay. The third-seeded champion, coached by former Swiss great Martina Hingis, earned the fifth title of her career while leaving her opponent winless from five finals. Pavlyuchenkova now owns five career titles, including two this season after winning the Monterrey event for a third time.
