The meeting chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd)Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, a day after his address to the nation where he spoke of the security challenges and commitment of not delaying a transfer of power, took stock of the overall law and order situation in the country.
Later, briefing newsmen, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arif Nizami said that the Cabinet was given a presentation on law and order situation in the run-up to the elections. It was apprised that with the help of provincial governments and security agencies, an elaborate security apparatus had been moved and put in place to ensure a conducive environment for holding elections throughout the country.
Nizami said that the Army would assist in transportation of election material down to district treasuries. Additionally, the military will complete its deployment plan by May 6 with local administration and Crops Headquarters in constant touch over security and a detailed plan in this regard was at being followed.
Comprehensive arrangements, Nizami said, had also been made to enable internally displaced persons in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA to cast their votes.
