Benazir murder case: FIA prosecutor shot dead in Islamabad

Ali was scheduled to appear in an anti-terrorism court Rawalpindi today, pertaining to Benazir murder case.

ISLAMABAD:
Federal Investigation Agency Special Public Prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali was murdered in an attack on Friday, Express News reported.

Ali was investigating the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Gunmen on a motorcycle pumped 12 bullets into Ali as he left his home in Islamabad, sources told Reuters.


According to the initial post mortem report, 14 injury marks were present on his body. He was shot in his head, arm and chest.

A Dawn.com report stated that the firing incident also killed a woman and injured Ali’s guard Rehman Ali. The guard was reported as saying that the attacker’s only intended target was Ali who had been receiving threats since a while.

Ali was scheduled to appear in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi today, pertaining to the Benazir murder case.

Ali was also the prosecutor investigating the 2008 Mumbai attacks, in which 166 people were killed.
