ABBOTABAD: The Misbahul Haq-led Pakistan team assembled in Abbottabad today where final touches will be given to their preparations for the upcoming UK tour that also features the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy in England.

The camp, that will end on May 9, is expected to see players take part in physical training and match practice besides getting anti-doping, anti corruption and motivational lectures.

However, the team management is mainly targeting the Champions Trophy where Misbah’s men are placed in a tough group that includes world champions India, South Africa and the West Indies.

According to a team official, the training camp has been designed in a way to ensure the best possible preparations.

“The Champions Trophy is our main target,” the official told The Express Tribune. “This is the last edition of the event and the team is desperate to win the title.

“The purpose to hold the camp in Abbottabad is that the weather here is similar to that of England. We have also made efforts to arrange similar tracks like those in England.”

Miandad to prepare batsmen, not Woodhill

Pakistan batsmen will train under former captain Javed Miandad and not under the ‘qualified’ Trent Woodhill who was recently appointed as the national batting coach for the tour.

The 42-year old Aussie will not attend the camp and will join the team in the UK.

Besides Miandad, former captain Wasim Akram will also attend the camp where he will work with the fast-bowlers.
