Four members of political parties among nine shot dead

Three people who happened to be standing near activists also killed.

KARACHI: Four members of various political parties were among the nine people killed in separate incidents of violence on Tuesday.

Two members of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), 40-year-old Haji Guddu and 40-year-old Muhammad Niaz, were shot dead when four men on two motorcycles opened fire on them near Noorani Masji, Lyari. Three other people who had been standing nearby, Tasleem, Aslam and Ruqaya Khatoon, were injured in the incident.

Additionally, the in-charge of the Sunni Tehreek in Gadap, Faraz Qadri, was shot dead and a former sector in-charge, Qamar Qadri, was wounded when four men on two motorcycles opened fire on them in Sector 5-B, Surjani. A member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, 22-year-old Aftab Ismail, was also shot dead by unidentified men on a motorcycle near his residence in Khuda ki Basti, Surjani. A man, Javed Mehsud, who was wounded in a firing incident in Manghopir on Monday, succumbed to his injuries in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Tuesday.



A shopkeeper, 40-year-old Qadir Hussain, was shot dead by armed motorcyclists at his shop situated in Juna market, Kharadar. The motive behind the incident has yet to be determined. An unidentified man was also shot dead in Rasheedabad, Manghopir. His body was transferred to Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth. Additionally, the bodies of two young men, Azeem and Zahid, who had been tortured to death, were found from Sher Shah and Pak Colony areas. Police officials said that the deceased were residents of New Karachi.

A driver, 38-year-old Ghulam Mohammad, was shot dead by unidentified men on a motorcycle in the limits of Memon Goth police station.

A man, 25-year-old Rashid Hussain, was also shot dead in Orangi town. A man, Waseem Baloch, who was associated with former PPP leader, Akram Baloch, was killed in Nayabad, Kalri.
