Academic issues: Evening classes to be discontinued at model colleges

FDE chief says new faculty to be hired.

Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Director General Shahnaz Anjum Riaz on Friday said that evening classes at model colleges would soon be discontinued.              


She was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Central Academic Staff Association (CASA) at Islamabad College for Boys Sector G-6/3. Capital Administration and Development (CAD) Minister Dr Younas Haider Soomro administered the oath to the newly-elected office bearers.

The DG vowed to resolve all problems faced by teachers. “We are working to address the issue of hiring new faculty for model colleges, besides discontinuing the evening shift in model colleges.”

CAD Minister Dr Soomro congratulated the new office-bearers, adding that, “Education is the key to the success of any country and teachers have a pivotal role tob play in this regard.”



CASA President Muhammed Rasheed said the process of regularising daily-wage teachers should be completed without further delay. He demanded that the number of students enrolled in each class be rationalised and that the implementation of time-scale promotions and monetisation of conveyance be ensured as soon as possible.

The new office-bearers include President Muhammed Rasheed, Senior Vice President Mehboob Ahmed, Vice President Gulnaz Rahi, General Secretary Murad Ali Khan, Joint Secretary Farzana Akram, Information Secretary Nuzhat Maghfoor, Finance Secretary Altaf Hussain and executive committee members Sarfraz Mehmood, Ziauddin, Rubina Anwar and Tabinda Tahir.
