LONDON: Singer Justin Bieber has reportedly dropped the idea of rescuing his pet monkey, Mally, from customs officials in Germany and wants a zoo to take care of him.

Bieber's manager Scooter Braun has asked the Munich animal centre where Mally is being held in quarantine to recommend places, reports thesun.co.uk.

But Braun was told to contact customs.

Bieber had no papers to bring Mally into Germany when he performed there last month, and customs seized the pet monkey.

"It would be wonderful if Mally could be integrated into a zoo with other capuchin monkeys. There are not so many suitable places in Germany, but there are in England," a spokesperson from Munich Animal Centre was quoted as saying.

"A baby monkey was never going to be suited to going on a world tour even if he is travelling by private jet. He should be with other monkeys if he isn't to have serious psychological problems," the spokesperson added.
