According to the additional IG, there are nearly 3,700 polling stations in Karachi of which half have been declared sensitive, including those in the West district.
“We have made a deployment plan, the Police will assist Rangers at the stations,” he added.
The army will be on standby in case the situation requires their presence.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan declared Sindh as the most sensitive province with 4,629 highly sensitive and 3,621 sensitive polling stations.

MQM won election during Pak Army operations, people support MQM and will always do.
hahahha karachi remain peaceful as and cool at the day, its the barrels from where the smoke spiral@Aysha:
If you pick up the major newspapers on the day after elections for the past 4 decades, there will be fewer reports of trouble in the polling stations of Karachi than any other major city. Karachi largely remains peaceful on polling day, it is interesting to see half of the stations declared sensitive.
This is evident that currently we have a failed police. Infact after the killings of policemen who took part in 1992 operation, police is on the back foot. We have also seen rangers "effectiveness" in controlling Law & Order situation in Karachi.
Karachi is ruled by Mafia (Na-Maloom afrad Movement) we all know. WE MUST NEED ARMY ON EVERY POLLING STATION (BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE). Otherwise RIP Karachi and its people.
Javaid Khan, You are absolutely right. They should not keep army as “Standby” only. Army must supervise the whole process if they are neutral....
Army Should be deployed in all the polling station in karachi
Caretaker goverment is not aware of the ground realities of Karachi. In previous elections the residents of Karachi saw how polling agents were kidnapped and ballot boxes filled.Army must be present at all polling stations in Karachi in order to prevent such rigging taking place again in Karachi.
Country's future is at dependent upon this elections .Let us learn from the history and take appropriate steps for free, fair and truly transparent election in order to take this country forward.
