The names were announced by MQM chief Altaf Hussain in a telephonic address, with screens put up at the venue displaying the names, pictures and constituencies of the candidates.
Names of 674 candidates were announced. Of these 221 candidates will contest for national assembly seats and 453 candidates will compete for the provincial assembly. As many as 22 women were also named as candidates for general seats.
Karachi accounts for half of all seats MQM is contesting in Sindh with 20 candidates fighting for national assembly seats and 42 candidates contesting provincial assembly seats in the megalopolis.
However, Punjab overshadows other regions for MQM where they will field candidates contesting on 132 national assembly seats 256 provincial assembly seats.
Altaf Hussain claimed that the MQM is representative of the common people and that it does not feature turncoats.
The MQM chief also voiced his concerns about the security situation, saying their party workers and supporters were being targeted everyday, and asked why the caretaker government is not taking notice of these killings.

Salam to All, there is a conspiracy against the MQM. Even a person never visit Karachi he says that Karachi's people are terrorist. The matter is that only the difference of Education. We should not be jealous but we should demand with our local MNAs or MPAs that provide us good city good education as MQM is providing to their citizen. As 36 Arab Ruppes was budgeted for Larkana, but no progress from their leaders. It is only one example: This type of amount for whole Pakistan Cities but their leaders are corrupt and not serving the money of people on them. Think positive............
MQM delivers even when it is not in power. MQM is the last hope for Pakistan, comparing MQM with any traditional feudal or Mullah based party is illogical.
Seriously, JUI-F was in complete power in KPK during the MMA, did they deliever, NO. MQM got power for Karachi and Hyderabad during 2005-2010, did they deliever, YES. Come out of your hatred and see the facts. Whatever development you see is due to mqm? Who is stopping other parties to do anything for the people of Karachi and Hyderabad to get votes here. Even after local govt., MQM was able to get some work by staying in the govt.
Btw I support PTI but my vote is for MQM. I hope PTI gets majority of vote from the areas where they have got their structure in place like in KPK and Punjab. But most of the things that PTI is trying to show to the youth MQM did it long time back. Farooq Sattar was 27 years old when he was elected mayor, Faisal Subzwari was 26 when he got elected in Sindh Assembly. Mustafa kamal was in his early 30s when he became mayor and all of them are edcuated and from middle class.
If karachi had gotten the development fund it deserves, MQM would have transformed it to number one city if not in Asia that atleast in South Asia. We saw the trailer.
what is difference b/w JUI-F and MQM, both are in power since a long time, both dont accept any responsilitis. both are two sides of same coins.
I'll never ever vote for Bhai Log.
MQM may loose its charm as chances of PTI of becoming a largest king maker seems to be quite brighter.

@Rana: Yes, a strong PTI in the Punjab province, and strong MQM in Sindh, will together make a strong government inshaAllah
Centre left is the way forward, the path on which only MQM treads in the true sense.

I am glad to read that MQM fir the first time in the history had awarded party tickets from all over Pakistan.
People who say that MQM is a ethnic political party should correct their vision about MQM.
In case if MQM will be able to win the elections with sweeping majority, it will mean that a silent revolution has come in Pakistan.
I wish MQM a greate success in Election 2013.
