In order to promote the strategic partnership between the neighbours, China offered special assistance to Pakistan with its counter-terrorism efforts.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony of ‘China Hall’, established at the newly-founded Strategic Studies Institute Islamabad (SSII), China’s ambassador to Pakistan, Liu Jian, said on Wednesday that his country’s commitment to the betterment of its neighbour remains steady.
China will seek solutions and policies based on national needs, he said.
Jian highlighted the repercussions of the war on terror, and said the growing cooperation in counter-terrorism initiatives was essential. “China will always stand by Pakistan,” he promised.
SSII Director-General Dr Shireen Mazari thanked the ambassador for his time, his gift of books and the conference system at the institute.
At the occasion, former foreign minister, Inamul Haque, also spoke on the expanding ties between the two countries.

@cautious: The "might of China" comes so long as others purchase their low quality and low priced goods.Try shutting imports from China and see what happens to the "May Pakistan and China be friends forever: slogans.. This is true of USA,Europe or any other country. They want to stop your manufacturing, sell your raw materiel cheap and buy their products.Middle East is a classic example of selling oil and importing everything from employment to finished goods.
I think many in Pakistan have slowly come to the realization that China is dependent on the USA to such an extent that the old beliefs that China would confront the USA on behalf of Pakistan have evaporated into the mist. As time progresses China's relationship with India may take a similar course. . Time for Pakistan to wake up and smell the roses. China dumps cheap goods into Pakistan costing you jobs. China purchases your low margin yarn which they incorporate into high margin textiles undercutting you on the international market (once again costing you money/jobs). China ranks low on list of donors when you request disaster aid, charges you full bore on military hardware, and has never used it's influence in the UN to support Pakistan's position on drones or anything else.
May Pakistan and China be friends forever.
