Liberalizing trade relations with India would create many new business opportunities for entrepreneurs in Pakistan, says IPCCI president. ILLUSTRATION: JAMAL KHURSHID.
President Indo-Pak Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IPCCI) SM Munir said non-tariff barriers were impeding businessmen from both countries from promoting bilateral trade to its true potential and stressed that Pakistan and India should take urgent measures to remove them.
Munir was visiting the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) to discuss various measures for further improving Pak-India bilateral trade. He said liberalizing trade relations with India would create many new business opportunities for entrepreneurs in Pakistan and also build confidence in the Pakistani economy.
He said Pakistan should consider granting an early Most Favoured Nation status to India as it would greatly help increasing the trade between the two nations. Munir assured that IPCCI would play a positive role in bringing entrepreneurs of the two countries closer to explore all potential areas of mutual cooperation.

@Aschraful Makhlooq: : "Indian businessmen first convince the Indian nation mentally for trade and business with Pakistan' Mr. Makhlooq, You must be knowing that India has given MFN status for trade long back in the year 1996 so that trade volume can be increased between the two. The barrier is Pakistani right wing who feel MFN (Most Favored Nation) status to India is unacceptable without understanding the meaning and its implications. So the ball is in the court of Pakistan a signatory of WTO .Normal trade relations will prov a win win situation for both. Non tariff barrier is a propaganda and many do not understand what the non tariff barrier is.it is anti dumping duties and or counter veiling duties imposed on imports if the importing country proves that exporting countries is subsidizing the product so exported.. i hope that Pakistan do not subsidize textile products, cement which are construed as major export products. Let us hope for the best.
Indian businessmen first convince the Indian nation mentally for trade and business with Pakistan then have to show eagerness and intentions to trade and boost and increase business ties with Pakistan because Indian nation till now has never accepted Pakistan mentally and still does have prejudice and discrimination about/for Pakistan and Pakistani nation.Without Indian nation's mentally preparation for business and trade with Pakistan the Indian businessmen should never like to think about trade and business with Pakistan the doing is so so so far.......
@رضوان: Not sure where you got your facts from. Even though Bangladesh's economy is much smaller than Pakistan, Bangladesh's trade with India is about 80% higher than Indo-Pak trade.

Part of me wants to be closer to India, another part of me worries that closer ties will just suck us into their sphere of influence. Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh have all distanced themselves from Indian influences - so clearly they know something about Indian influence that we should be aware of before we warm up to India.
Of course India would be eager to trade in Pakistan. They can then easily take your money and also spy on you too and tell their big brothers what is happening on the ground.
Go and trade with China..........Indians eager and look who is making statements............LOL
