The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday summoned former minister Faisal Saleh Hayat in a suo motu case regarding rental power plants.

Hayat, who belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q), had alleged that the water and power ministry is involved in corruption in the rental plants project.

The SC took notice of the case and summoned the lawyer of the Water and Power Ministry to hear his stance.

The lawyer Khawaja Tariq Rahim requested the court to also summon those who have accused the power ministry of its involvement in corruption.

Accordingly, the apex court summoned Hayat to appear before it and justify his allegations at the next hearing.
