Water supply: Pump installed in Cholistan

The CDA had requested the Planning and Development Department for Rs9.75 million to de-silt all tobas.

BAHAWALPUR: A water pump was installed on Friday at Mukdee, in Cholistan, Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) Managing Director Javed Mehmood Akhter told The Express Tribune. “When I took charge of the CDA in June 2012, I began working on water supply on an emergency basis and have been able to de-silt 30 tobas (ponds) of the 1,100 tobas,” Akhter said. “The CDA tries to make sure all tobas are cleaned annually so that water is available throughout the year,” he said. The CDA had requested the Planning and Development Department for Rs9.75 million to de-silt all tobas. Akhter said the CDA had also forwarded a proposal for a Rs84 million project to build “the largest water conservation project in Cholistan so far.”
