Nisar's papers were accepted from the constituency of NA-52 Rawalpindi and Nawaz's from NA-120 Lahore.
The nomination papers of Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz and of Ayesha Ahad were also accepted for NA-199 constituency in Lahore.
Few days earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) had issued a list of 284 former members of the National Assembly, who had not paid their telephone bills. As per the list, former leader of the opposition Chaudhry Nisar owed Rs96,000.
The list was provided to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for nomination papers’ verification process.
The election commission has been scrutinising nomination papers of all candidates ahead of the general elections.
Earlier during the day, former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s nomination papers for the constituency of NA-250 Karachi were rejected by the commission.

@UMSyed: When a bench of 9 judges hear a case do they always give unanimous decisions? Does the judge who write a dissenting opinion not know the law? When individual ROs are applying their minds, some inconsistency is bound to occur. I am sure some consistent guidelines will be used while ruling on the appeals. This is a learning process with many errors but surely no one can deny that this has been the most robust screening process the country ever witnessed? This on top of index ending EC, independent caretaker set up and a government that completed its full term, are all very positive signs that should give cause for hope and optimism to Pakistanis not to mention clean up of the voter list.
Now it is going to be upto you all as to whom you vote for. Vote wisely and good luck.
@Baby ka Husband: He is not a dual national though his spouse is. But the current rules do not disqualify ou on he basis of the spuse's nationality. Secondly his graduation is from Oxford. The fact that he cannot find his FA certificate does not mean that his degree is not genuine. Now the telephone default was a genuine problem. One hopes that he was required not only to pay the bill but also pay a hefty penalty for being delinquent. If that is the case, what would be the ground to disqualify him - other than the fact that he represents a party you do not like?
@Mohammad Who told you that his A level certificate is fake? He has done his A level from Aitchison College Lahore and he was Captain of the cricket team where Imran Khan Niazi was also playing.
Chaudhry Nisar is a graduate of Cambridge University, a prestigious university of UK and has a world ranking.
The HEC was continuously insisting that he should submit his original certificate for verification and not a photocopy. Like Javed Hashmi, Chaudhry Nisar's contention was that he has lost his original certificate since he did his A level some 50 years ago.
Chaudhry Nisar got a duplicate copy issued from his alma mater and finally submitted to HEC. Malik Riaz's planted conspiracy fails once again!!!
I am amazed why ET did not report on Ch. Nisar's rejection of nomination papers for NA-53. He rejection was subject to the undisclosed assets where he failed to provide any justification against the tangible proofs provided in front of ECP returning officials. I think justice has been done. His election campaign of 1985 was totally sponsored by his introducer/partner (now his opponent) Ghulam Sarwar Khan as he did not have any financial resources for his election campaign. What happened rest was recently aired in the following link of the Dawn News documentary. . https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151359822580669
How can papers of Sharif brothers be accepted? They left the country after doing a deal with a dictator and then kept denying this until the deal documents surfaced.
From another constituency, NA-53, his papers have been rejected. I don't understand the law. If one person gets rejected from one constituency how can he be allowed from the other? Even, vice versa. This is a purely lego-technical question. Same also applies in case of Musharraf. His papers have been rejcted from Karachi & Kasur but accepted from Chitral.
Not surprised. leaders of banned out fits ,Sharif brothrs PPP leaders,so called leaders from Baluchistan who openly refused to accept pakistan are allowed to contest then why not Nisar?
This is very sad.. really sad, without clearing the dues and objections regarding his education that his A Level Certificate is fake.
Did his pay off his dues? What about his dual nationality issue? did it get resolved?
He is a defaulter then. He also has education certificates problem and is considered a dual-national. Then why is he acceptable??
The nomination papers got accepted on what grounds? Did he pay his dues?
