ISLAMABAD: With the nomination papers of Ghulam Rabbani Khar approved for NA-177, his daughter former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar further distanced herself from another stint in the National Assembly.

Khar told The Express Tribune on Saturday that she had “applied as a covering candidate to my father, Ghulam Rabbani Khar, for NA-177”.

As her father’s papers cleared the test of Article 62 and Article 63 of the Constitution, Khar maintained that would be the end for her political career, for now.

Surprisingly, she did not apply for the reserved seats for women on the Pakistan Peoples Party ticket.

“That continues to be the position,” she said.

Ghulam Rabbani had not contested the 2008 elections owing to the graduation condition. Hina, who did meet the criteria, was elected from NA-177.

@Rizwan: Graduation is no longer a pre requisite now. He did not contest when it was a pre requisite in 2008 and as such did not violate any laws.

On what criteria of election and employment she became an MNA and foreign minister and earlier an adviser to Shaukat Aziz? The woman thinks she can avail all government benefits but she and her husband can default in taxes, utilities, and loan repayments. This is another false front to get into the assembly through the caste and biradari system. Salams
