Pakistan Furniture Council: First Interiors Expo from April 12 to 14

10,000 people expected to attend the expo.

The Pakistan Furniture Council will hold the first Interiors Pakistan Expo 2013 from April 12 to April 14 and expects about 10,000 people to attend it.


The council announced this on Thursday at a press conference at La Atrium.

The panel included Sajjad Kausar, a former NCA principal; Hina Tayyaba, the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design vice chancellor; Jawad Ahmed Tahir, Head of Interior Design Department at Punjab University; Shahzad Mughal of Workman; Tina Khan of TKID; Mian Kashif Ashfaq, the council CEO; Hamza Tarar of Casa Hamza; Omer Nabi of Studio O; and Rizwan Amjad of National Furniture.

The panel discussed job opportunities, opportunities for young interior designers and the future growth in the industry. Tina Khan highlighted the major problems that young interior designers face. “Opportunities back in our days were limited,” she said, adding that the council would create opportunities for young designers in the furniture industry.

Mughal said, “If we could get government support on managing exports, the furniture industry of Pakistan could contribute millions to the revenue on a monthly basis.”

A collection of furniture, showcasing the work by council members, was also on display. Other participants included Chen One, TKID, Interwood, The Furniture Gallery, Barry’s Collection, Alqeetas Marbles, National Furniture, Haris Traders, Mohkam Furniture, Fantac Furniture, Happilac Paints, Black Horse Paints, Charagh Din & Company, Indoor Furniture, GR Aluminium, Grooves Interiors, Banu Mukhtar, Enviro Furniture and New Era Furnishers.
