
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) former MPA from Quetta, Ali Madad Jatak was also served a two year sentence in jail with a fine of Rs10,000 for having a fake degree.
A District and Sessions court had heard the case of Jatak’s alleged fake degree on April 3, during which the investigation officer recorded his statement.
The ECP also rejected the nomination papers of Khawaja Islam, member of the PML-N due to his fake degree.
PML-N MNA Rao Mazhar Hayat has been indicted for possessing a fake degree. He was a former MNA from NA-138.
In other developments, the Balochistan High Court acquitted Humayun Aziz Kurd in a fake degree case, as previous cases shed some light on the prevailing situation.
Earlier on April 4, former K-P sports minister Jamshed Dasti was also jailed for submitting two fake degrees.
PML-N’s Waqas Akram was also found to have a fake A Level certificate, it was also revealed that he had not submitted his O-Level certification either.
The Supreme Court on April 3, directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to reopen cases against 24 lawmakers accused of holding fake degrees.
District courts across the country continued awarding sentences against and summoning former lawmakers believed to be in possession of fake degrees.
