Boxing: Indian star takes dope test
“I will wait for the results before deciding any action,” says Indian sports minister.
NEW DELHI:
Indian Olympic bronze-medallist boxer Vijender Singh has undergone dope tests as ordered by the government after police accused him of using heroin, according to officials. Vijender, who won a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, gave his blood and urine samples to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) on Wednesday, sports minister Jitender Singh said. “I will wait for the results before deciding any action,” the minister was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India. “I don’t want to speculate. But if Vijender has made a mistake, he should of course be punished or penalised.”
