New rules: NOC required for acid transportation

FAISALABAD: Punjab government has imposed a ban on the transportation of acid and other hazardous chemicals without a no objection certificate, city district government spokesman Muhammad Raheel told The Express Tribune. He said the NOC can be obtained from the district government. He said acids and other hazardous chemicals had been used in several terrorist activities in the district. He said traders were now required to provide information regarding the transportation, storage and utilisation of the chemical while applying for the NOC. To a question he said, on a first violation, a trader would be fined Rs500 and taken to a court. In case of repeated offence, he said, the fine would be increased to Rs5,000 and the offender might be sent to prison for six months.
