L’atelier showcases spring collection

The exhibition featured 10 designers and 30 outfits.

Islamabad based multi-label store L’atelier hosted its Spring Fashion Showcase at its outlet in Lahore on April 2.

L’atelier’s leading designers were revealed along with their signature collections at the exhibition which focused mainly on prêt wear.

The evening was managed by Savvy PR and attended by the friends and family of the store owners. The showcase featured 10 designers and 30 outfits, and gave the audience a flavour of the brands’ signature styles. Sania Maskatiya, though now a household name, sadly presented pieces from the collection she showcased at Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) last year. Even though her work is fabulous, it would be nice to see Sania do something new.

Misha Lakhani opened the show with her casual printed prêt. The outfits defined Misha’s signature style and one could instantly recognise her work but what really stood out, were the unfinished hems — they gave the outfits an edgy yet rustic feel.

Teena by Hina Butt showcased her over-the-top luxury prêt. Even though jumpsuits with flowy capes are over done now, it is remarkable how Butt has a market for her brand and caters to them well.

Zara Shahjahan showed generic luxury prêt outfits with nothing innovative or fresh. She should probably just stick to prints and casual prêt because that is what she does best.

Silk by Fawad Khan showcased some fabulous prints merged with embellishments. This brand has consistently churned out remarkable prints ever since its inception and it is great to see consistency within the industry.

Rizwan Ahmed, Pershe by Kausar Humayun and Ramira, all showcased their luxury prêt.

Following these new entrants, the exhibition proceeded with Muse who revealed two jumpsuits made out of the same print but it was the difference in cut which made them stand out. The outfit that stole the show would have to be Muse’s silk maxi with a sky print. The richness of the print and the depth of the composition really stood out and commanded attention.

Élan closed the show with a beautiful macaroon-coloured outfit with butterfly detailing. There is one thing for sure — you can never go wrong with Élan.

An otherwise fun fashion-filled evening was marred by the stuffiness at the venue. The humidity and the lack of ventilation was a buzz kill.
