Gunna’s name has sparked heated debate for two years after his involvement in the high-profile YSL RICO case with Young Thug.

Now, with Young Thug’s release and his lawyer’s court-approved request to work with Gunna, fans are rethinking the accusations.

“Y’all owe Gunna an APOLOGY!! Up first, Lil Baby!” read one comment, reflecting the shift as social media rallied for Gunna’s redemption.

During Young Thug’s sentencing, Thug’s attorney Brian Steel praised Gunna as "a phenomenal artist" and emphasized Thug’s need to collaborate with him.

Thug received permission to work with both Gunna and his brother Quantavious Grier, marking them as exceptions in Thug’s probation rules.

Steel highlighted, “Thug and Gunna frequently perform music together,” which surprised fans who assumed relations were strained after Gunna’s 2022 Alford plea in the RICO case.

Gunna’s legal team has long defended his actions.

After Gunna’s release, his attorney, Steve Sadow, insisted, “Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail,” urging fans to “stop spreading lies.”

Throughout the ordeal, Gunna affirmed his innocence, stating, “I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case.”

However, social media didn’t spare Gunna, especially after a leaked video showed him in court agreeing to the judge’s statement that “YSL is a music label and a gang.”

Rappers, including Maino, weighed in, criticizing this admission. Even on the music front, Lil Baby, a former collaborator, seemed to echo the sentiment, saying, “Fk the rats,” during a performance of “Drip Too Hard.” 21 Savage’s lyrics from “Letter to My Brudda” further fueled the speculation: “How you go from codefendant to a fkin’ witness?”

A viral video from The Shade Room captured Steel’s request to let Thug work with Gunna, sparking comments like, “Y’all owe Gunna an APOLOGY!!” and “The whole hip hop industry owes Gunna an extraordinary apology.”

Thug’s release and support for Gunna have led fans to reconsider the snitching accusations and expect the two might even release music together soon.
