The IBCC further revealed that Akram had not yet submitted his O-Level certificate.
Akram recently left Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) and joined Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N). He used to contest elections from the Jhang city National Assembly seat, NA-89.
Akram resigned as a minister and as a member of the National Assembly in order to join the PML-N.
He had announced that if the PML-N were elected to a power, a university would be built in Jhang.
PML-N MNA caught out
The District and session court declared former PML-N MNA Salman Mohsin Gillani a proclaimed offender in a fake degree case. The court also ordered to freeze his assets. The guarantor for Salman Mohsin will also face charges.
The former MNA won the national assembly seat during the 2008 elections from Pakpattan on PML-N’s ticket.
K-P MPA sentenced
A district and session judge handed over a penalty of Rs3,000 and one year sentence in jail to former ANP MPA of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Aaqil Shah.
He was elected a member in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly in 2008 and was minister for sports.
Aaqil had submitted two degrees earlier, both of which were declared fake.
He submitted a degree from American law college of Lahore which was not proven fake or bogus but the institute did not have affiliation with Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Ongoing action
District courts and police across the country swung into action on April 2, awarding sentences and arresting former lawmakers and aspiring electoral candidates alike for submitting fake degrees and dual nationalities.
The Supreme court had ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take action against candidates with fake degrees and dual nationals on April 1.
Those convicted in fake degree cases will be ineligible to run in the elections.

These people who were elected and got paid as MPs and minister for 5 years, should not only be sent to jail, all the money paid to them as MPs and Minsiters should be returned with heavy penalties not just interest.
Its a real shame for pakistan that education minister degree is fake...vote education not families if you want new pakistan
what PML (N) or any other party can do about this, no one is checking degrees in Political Parties, when someone joins any political party, this is only the responsibility of individuals, and dont forget , he just joined PML (n) , when he was in Parliment, he was with PML (q).
Come on me minister jail is waiting for you. These punishments to al these people are a sign that my country is going to the right side. It's just a step there's much more have to do.

Conragulation to Mr. Nawaz shreef and his team for such a great achievement to award ticket of moshraf collegue and fake degree holder. We also conragulate our TV anchor who called such a politician in their talk show and waste nation time . I request my nation to join PTI to get such type of politician. Irony is that he was our "Education Minister". The Vazir-e-Taleem turned out to be Zair-e-Talim as depicted by Khwaja Moinuddin in his famous theater "Taleem-e-Balighan" 30 years ago. Shame on you Waqas Akram!
Most of the MNAs / MPAs already had chance carry fake degrees and a careful scrutiny may reveal truth in this argument. Some of the universities do not carry accurate past record of their alumni and many are claiming association from them.how to go for them.....................

All this action against fake degrees is welcome. But when will we get those ineligible for the elections who have got their bank loans waived-off, bank-defaulters, who have plundered millions/billions of national exchequer, the tax-evaders etc. And that could have been done by seeking their records from FBR, State bank etc. IMO, the time of one week for the scrutiny of nomination papers is a big joke. Election commission should have had at least one month to scrutinize the financial integrity of the person given these people, once elected, will be taking big decisions concerning financial matters of the country.

Everything is pretty much evident by now. All the Status-Quo parties have ruled not for the welfare of the people, but to make themselves affluent by corrupt practices.
As a Pakistani, I condemn such revelation but, however, at the same I appreciate the Supreme Court and the esteemed Chief Justice for making such bold decisions. IMRAN KHAN comes with an Economics degree from Oxford University, while another PTI member Shah Mehmood Qureshi is a graduate from Cambridge University. People like these are an asset to this country.
An educated leadership can ONLY devise proper solutions being faced by the inhabitants of this country. PLEASE people, this elections, VOTE FOR IMRAN KHAN and PTI. Pakistan Zindabad.
If this happened in the UK there would have been a national outcry and government inquiry. It is shameful that this has been allowed to go on in Pakistan for so long, but a good step that people with fake degrees are being prevented from taking part in the election.

And this man was our 'Education Minister'. What country and what nation. PML(N) must answer this as to how such a man was awarded party ticket or was allowed to submit nomination papers as their potential candidate. Terrible!

Now given this knowledge, let us see if PML-N awards him a ticket. Ironically he was education minister in the previous government. He did a 2 hour speech on the floor of assembly against the allegations leveled against him. I wonder, how low can a person stoop. Shame on you!
