MALAKWAL:

A woman and her daughter were beaten up, allegedly by her brother, on Sunday for demanding her share in the inherited property, Gojra police said.

Anwer Bibi told The Express Tribune that she was visiting her brother over the weekend. She said when she asked her brother, Bashir Ahmed, to give her her share in the property inherited from their parents, he refused and told her to go away. She said this led to an argument with him and her sister-in-law Manzooran Bibi that ended in her brother beating her up. She said she then went over and stayed at the house of their brother, Nazeer Ahmed.

On Sunday, she said, Bashir , his wife and some other men came to Nazeer’s house and beat her up and her daughters. She said her clothes were torn and she and her daughters were injured.

She alleged that police were pressuring her to settle the matter. Police said that they were looking for Bashir Ahmed.
