Cultural week at IIUI: Of cultural depictions and captivating performances

Prize distribution held, academics, diplomats attend event.

The real asset and power of Muslim ummah is youth and it is they who will build the future of the Islamic countries.


This was stated by Iraqi ambassador Dr Rushdi Al-Ani while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the 25th Cultural Week and Silver Jubilee celebrations of the International Islamic University (IIUI) at the male campus on Friday, said a press release issued by IIUI.

Dr Rushdi stressed upon the students that they should continue to participate in the image-building and progress of the university. He said such activities bring the students of various countries closer.

Speaking on the occasion, IIUI President Dr Al-Draiweesh said the cultural week will help students to understand each other and work for the progress of Pakistan and Muslim ummah.

Dr Draiweesh said we have achieved our goals in this cultural week but journey towards success should continue with more pace and passion.

He congratulated the students who took positions in different competitions and stressed upon them to adopt moderation and avoid the attitude of violence and extremism in their lives.

Dr Safeer Awan, appreciated the efforts of all employees and students of university for holding the cultural week.

Later, the chief guest gave prizes to the winners.

Cultural night

A colourful programme was presented by performers highlighting their cultures on stage at the Cultural Night on Thursday. Students were on their feet when fireworks and the most appreciated performance by renowned actor Imtiaz Ali Kashif took place.

Delegates from Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud, Islamic University of Saudi Arabia, Dr Tahir Khaili, head Department of Psychology and diplomats were also present on the occasion. Students from all provinces and various countries portrayed their cultures through dramas, skits, qawalis and poetry recitation.

Imtiaz Ali Kashif’s capitivating performance stole the show, said Wasif, a student.
