PESHAWAR: Former officials of the National Research and Development Foundation (NRDF) have asked the United Nations Children’s Fund manager to release their salaries being withheld for the last six months.

Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Abdullah Madni, a former field coordinator in Swat said that NRDF had appointed 37 field coordinators in different districts across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa under the ‘Involvement of Ulema against Elimination of Polio’ project in 2010.

The projected ended in October 2012 and the salaries have been withheld since then.

He asked UNICEF regional manager in Peshawar, Dr Jameel, to release their salaries and re-start the project so that they could earn a living. Madni said he and many like him have no alternative income.

He warned of staging a sit in outside the UNICEF Peshawar office if salaries were not released within three days.
