DAGAR: Former MNA Istiqbal Khan quit the Awami National Party and joined the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Wednesday.

Istiqbal came to parliament from NA-28 (Buner) after his father Abdul Matin Khan, who had won the 2008 elections on the seat, died.

Matin and his family were associated with the ANP for the last 28 years. Istiqbal has also held the post of minister of state and adviser to the prime minister.

JUI-F leaders Attaur Rahman, Maulana Gul Naseeb and Akram Khan Durrani were present during the press conference at Istiqbal’s residence where he announced his move. The JUI-F has given the NA ticket for the constituency to Haleemur Rahman.
