The Lahore High Court has sought a report within a week from the district and sessions judge regarding the investigation into an acid attack on a woman at Miani Sahib graveyard in Mozang.
Naziran Bibi of Mangtanwala, Nankana Sahib, was walking past the shrine of Ghazi Ilm Din on Monday, March 18, when Saleem Ahmad alias Ishaq, of Yakki Gate, allegedly threw acid on her and fled. Bibi died of her injuries a day later.
A case was registered against Ahmed under Section 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of the victim’s brother Imran, who was accompanying her at the time of the attack.
Civil Lines SP (Investigation) Tariq Aziz said police were looking for Ahmed.
He said the motive behind the attack was unclear. He said that the victim had been unable to make a statement before her death.
A Mozang police investigation official said Naziran had been married twice and had three children with her first husband and seven with the second.
