It has become imperative for provinces to pay due attention to population welfare programmes.
Speakers have urged provinces to increase the budget up for family planning to 3 per cent of GDP in order to control the population explosion.
They pointed out that after the 18th Amendment, it has become imperative for provinces to pay due attention to population welfare programmes and commit politically and financially to achieve the goals of population control.
They were speaking at a media workshop organised by the Rahnuma-Family Planning Association of Pakistan (FPAP) on Sunday.
A large number of media persons, representatives of provincial governments, Ulema, service providers, partners and civil society representatives attended the moot.
They stressed that it is time for provinces to understand the circumstances properly and identify threats and opportunities which arose after the devolution of the population ministry.
