LAHORE:

Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Mehmood Khosa has requested to be excused from providing any services in the caretaker setup in Punjab.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the chief secretary clarified the reason behind his stance.  He stated that since the provincial government was dissolved and the elections were round the corner he ‘felt’ that he should not hold his current position.

He urged the premier to shift his services to the federation instead of the Punjab government. He added that it was necessary that a caretaker setup was impartial and his further stay in Punjab would not be in the public interest.
