Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation Ltd (Passco) will procure 1.6 million tons wheat at the rate of Rs1,200 per 40 kilogramme from growers without any involvement of middle man during the forthcoming procurement season.
Maj (R) Zahoor Ranjha, zonal head of Passco, Khanewal, told APP on Thursday that following a special directive of Passco’s Managing Director Maj Gen Tauqeer Ahmad Rao, foolproof arrangements have been made to ensure transparent procurement of quality wheat direct from growers at fixed rates under a one window operation.
He said that nearly 0.13 million tons wheat will be purchased from the Khanewal zone. He said that MD of Passco has also constituted high level inspection teams which will conduct series of surprise visits at procurement centres to monitor the process of wheat procurement and check the quality of wheat.
