DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A woman and two minor girls were injured on Tuesday when missile fragments descended on their house in Wacha Khura north of Wana Rustham Bazaar, according to an official of the political administration in Wana.

Three missiles were fired from the north towards Rustham Bazaar – two fell in open spaces, while the third landed on the house, added the official.

The injured were immediately rushed to Agency Headquarters Hospital, Wana, for treatment. The wounded women belonged to the Kaka Khel, a sub-tribe of Ahamdzai Wazir, which inhabits Wana sub-division of South Waziristan.

A resident of Wacha Khura, Asghar Khan said the missile exploded in mid-air, causing fragments to bombard the house. He added the missile’s premature detonation caused little damage. “It would have caused huge human casualties if it had exploded on impact,” he maintained.

For the past few months, missiles have repeatedly been fired towards Wana Rustham Bazaar from unknown locations. It has not yet been ascertained who is behind these attacks.
