
Pakistan finished third at the Dubai International Sevens Tournament as they defeated UAE 36-14 in the plate final, while Lebanon clinched the event after downing Egypt 12-7.
Pakistan had a horrid start on the final day, defeated by the hosts 21-12 in the pool match before recovering to prevail over Saudi Arabia 47-0. However, they were then outplayed by Lebanon 26-14.
The team finished third in the six-team tournament Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) President Fawzi Khwaja expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. He also blamed biased refereeing for the team’s loss against UAE that cost them a place in the final.
