Kamran fit for Lord’s: Yawar

KARACHI: Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed has confirmed that wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal has been cleared by the doctors for the fourth One-Day International.

Akmal injured his finger during the third ODI at The Oval on Friday and was forced to leave the field after passing on the gloves to Umar.  “Kamran had scans on the finger after which he was cleared to play as there was no fracture,” Saeed told The Express Tribune. “He just had bruises from which he has recovered.”

Saeed said that the wicket-keeper was certain to play if he gets through the practice session without any pain and ruled out calling any reinforcements.

“If things go well for him during practice, he’ll play. Also, the tour is almost complete so at this point in time I don’t see anyone coming to replace him. We might field the available players to replace him in case of he aggravates the injury or is not able to take part in the remaining two matches.”

The manager also hinted at the likelihood of retaining the winning combination that beat England by 23 runs at The Oval - Pakistan’s first win since the Test win at the same venue.

“We are satisfied with the team’s performance and would retain the winning squad if Kamran remains fit.”
