Just hours before the constitutional tenure of parliament came to an end, the interior ministry issued a notification on Thursday, declaring unlimited perks and privileges for the incumbent Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and his predecessors.
The notification (No F-1/13/2013-Security-I) was issued with the stamp and signature of Section Officer Shahadat Ali Bangash.
According to sources, this decision may be a governmental bid to ingratiate certain incumbent coalition partners.
The contents, to be formally published in the next issue of Government Gazette, state that all federal ministers for interior, excluding caretaker federal ministers and those who held office when the Constitution stood suspended, can benefit from the following facilities indefinitely: protocol coverage be provided by Federal Investigation Agency to the ministers, their spouses and children at all airports of the country; and services of a personal staff officer/assistant private secretary/ personal assistant, a driver, and an orderly, all to be appointed by the National Data Base Regulatory Authority.

@Cardew: U call Australia a "western" country.... ??? eye-roll
@cautious: I agree with you, but if you wish to see robbery by politicians in constant action you should visit Western countries such as Australia. Australian politician's perks are unbelievable, and updated automatically. To make it worse, in Australia, they have a Federal system so their are 8 governments, which comes to over 800 politicians. It is my understanding that Australian politicians receive better pay and better perks than American politicians.
What amazes me is that there is appears to be no shame in robbing the taxpayers as they exit office - lets hope the new govt revokes these unwarranted privileges.
Nice
Uff, Uff ...
@Blitzer: Wishful thinking. Undoing, forget it, they would inflate it.
Let IK come. They will all get good perks, at back...
Notifications with such blaring conflict of interests should'nt be allowed. If you are an authority figure, you shouldn't be allowed to give yourself perks and facilites. If the position does require the perks and facilites then they should be applicable to your successor and not to yourself. If you can't do your job without the 'facilities', make ready the 'facilites' for the next person and then resign.
Give me a break, folks.
Same kind of thing was done by Speaker National Assembly Ms Fahmeeda Mirza, a day before. Now Rehman Baba....! Issuing Notifications for unlimited perks and privileges for himself? I am sure no one will ever revert or cancel such notifications in future.
No words. Just shaking my head in utter disbelieve. Jinnah returned a chair put in his house worth 2 rs. He said it is the money of the people of Pakistan and i cannot accept this. In just 65 years our morality has plummetted to this level.
Don't worry, people. The next government wouldn't take too long to undo this.
hahahaha
R.M thinking: I already have Thousands of vehchiles, gurads and security officials in my protocal, what should i do more to update it now :o ,, oh yes I got it.. make it unlimited/ idefinite :p

A parting kick at tax payers!
